Authorized Charter Schools

West Virginia law initially permitted up to 10 brick-and-mortar charter schools. An additional 2 statewide virtual charter schools may also be established, which each enrolling no more than five percent of the headcount enrollment per year.

Beginning July 1, 2023, and every 3 years thereafter, an additional 10 public charter schools may be authorized and in operation.
